VK Basketball Regional Champions, off to Junior NBA tournament in Toronto

For the second straight year, VK Basketball is off to the Junior NBA tournament.
They defeated Genesis Basketball on June 1st at the Langley Events Centre to win the regional title 83-28. They’ll head to Toronto to play in the next round from June 13th to 16th.
“From the get go the girls came ready to play,” said head coach Paul Langford. “They came with high energy and great defensive pressure. It was a great opportunity for the girls and we are excited for the next round in Toronto.”
VK raced out on a 19-1 opening run and never really looked back. They led 48-9 at half, and got big contributions up and down the lineup.

Caitlin Kippan had a game high 18 points. Grace Bradshaw had 12, and Caleigh Reimer and Maggy Curtis added 11 each as well.
VK will face the East, Atlantic, Prairies, and Host representatives in the tournament when they arrive in Toronto. This is the second straight year VK will send a team to the Junior NBA tournament. Last year, VK Carkner made it to the tournament held in St. Catherine’s, Ontario.
If they win in Toronto, VK has the chance to make the Junior NBA World Championships — which would be a first for the program. Best of luck to the team and make the west proud!
