The Hub's Top 10 Teams: #2

Our number two team made a run to the provincial title that was one of the most unique and interesting in recent memory.
Coming in as the eighth seed, they put it all together when it mattered most and went home with the 4A banner that so many players before them had let slip through their fingers.
These Rebels had a cause: win their school’s first provincial title in over 35 years.

The Burnaby South Rebels had an interesting path to even get to the big dance — they had to beat Kitsilano in the third place game to qualify. Throughout the season they showed glimpses of what made them a great team, but weren’t able to put it together for consistent stretches.
But once they did, they showed why they were held in such high esteem. With a Rebel Yell, they knocked off Lord Tweedsmuir, top ranked Oak Bay (who were in our top 5), and Belmont to reach the final against Semiahmoo. And we all know what happened after that.
The responses as to why Burnaby South was the best team mirrored why we had them ranked second: they were quite
simply the “champs” and the “Best 4A [team] when it counted.”
Congrats to Burnaby South on the season and the ranking! You’re not just rebel just for kicks, and we look forward to seeing you play next season.
Next up: the number one ranked team. All we’ll say is that they have one of the most explosive scorers this province has ever seen.
