Junior Girls

Argyle Pipers vs. Terry Fox Ravens

In the first game of the day at SFU's beautiful West Gym, the Terry Fox Ravens were first to put points on the board, going on a 5-0 run ahead of the Argyle Pipers. The duration of the opening half went in Fox's favour as they led 34-10.

The third quarter saw some dedicated defensive tactics on both ends of the court. However, with just 4 minutes to go, the Ravens went into overdrive. They climbed on the scoreboard and shut it down on D, holding Argyle to just 6 points. Heading into the fourth, they led 53-16.

After a hard fought battle, the Terry Fox Ravens snagged their first W at SFU with a final score of 71-24 over the Argyle Pipers.

Riverside Rapids vs. MEI Eagles

The second game of the day was a doozy! Both teams kept fairly equal, with a tight first quarter. Junior Rapids led 12-11. In the second quarter, Riverside stayed slightly ahead 25-19 with a couple beauty layups.

In the final half, the Rapids continued their hot streak and eventually won beat the Eagles with a final score of 62-52.

Senior Girls

Yale Lions vs. Riverside Rapids

Kicking off the first senior game of the day, the Riverside Rapids faced off against the Yale Lions in what proved to be a close match right from the start. With Riverside missing a few key players, the team trailed in the first half while Yale made easy layups and crucial blocks. The Rapids picked it up near the end of the quarter to come within just 4 points of the Lions.

In the second Q, Riverside came crashing down on Yale like unruly wave! They took the lead for the first time in the game and dominated on the scoreboard. Heading into the next half, the Rapids led 51-45.

The final half saw a Rapid domination, defeating the Lions 96-73.

Riverside will move onto The Big Ticket Finals!

Walnut Grove Gators vs. Abbotsford Panthers

The final senior girl's ball game of the day was a banger! With Abby Senior hitting the hoops first and going on a 9-0 run to start the quarter, you knew it was going to be lit. Walnut Grove stepped it up, though, with the Panthers offence on their chopping block. Heading into the second quarter, they led 22-18 over Abby.

In the second, the Gators continued their hot streak by dominating ball possession and on D, only allowing the Panthers to score 11 points to their 21.

And the beating did not stop there. Grove played with a whole lot of drive and continued to hammer up points on the board. They went up 21 points at their peak. Even though the Panthers battled back to within 10 points, it just wouldn't suffice. The Gators took the W with a final score of 88-76.

Looks like we're in for a hype rematch! The Walnut Grove Gators are heading to the championship finals to duke it out against the Riverside Rapids once more. Game time is 5pm at Simon Fraser University's West Gym.
