#RepYourRegion: Kamloops Stormers ready to compete against elite competitors at BballNationals.

Updated: Jul 2, 2019

In this instalment of #RepYourRegion — our series on teams coming to Bballnationals this summer — we chatted with Scott Reeves, head coach of the Kamloops Stormers. A longtime basketball coach, Reeves and the Stormers are excited to be a part of this national club basketball tournament for a second straight year.

“[The team] have been together since they were in grade six” said Reeves talking to BC Sports Hub. “We have played club ball together each year and are all from Valleyview Secondary. We have played in numerous tournaments in BC and Alberta, and this year we are also travelling to Oregon City and Seattle for tournaments.”

Reeves had talked with the organizers of the tournament previously, and had always liked the concept of a national club basketball tournament. Furthermore, he said his players are excited to be a part of it — it’s a great opportunity for them.

“We enjoy playing teams we don't normally get to see play” he said on the competition his team will be facing at Bballnationals. “It is a great venue to compete in and just be able to watch so many teams competing.

Bringing elite competitors together and playing against the best is a great way to grow the game and allows for student athletes to become the best they are capable of becoming.”

Be on the lookout for Jessica Orr, who Reeves said will be “a very good player by the time she graduates in two years.” Makenna Reeves can shoot the three ball “as good as any grade ten in the province.”

For more information on the tournament and how to register, visit the tournament website. We look forward to seeing the Stormers starting July 29th!
