The Bearcats host the Douglas College Royals Thursday night to kick off the final week of league action heading into the semester break. CBC is still winless on the season, coming off a heartbreaking 72-71 loss to Quest last Saturday. The Bearcats will look to guard Ty Cleland to continue to lead the way, he’s currently fifth in league scoring averaging 17 points per game, and amazingly is yet to miss a free throw in 20 attempts so far this season. The Royals are led by big man Noah Derappard-Yuswack who is averaging 17.5 points per game, and a league leading 11.8 rebounds per contest.
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 24TH
Vancouver Island University (4-0) @ Langara College (3-1) 8:00 pm
In the most highly anticipated matchup of the weekend, the undefeated Mariners visit Langara College. VIU’s high powered offence continues to be led by reigning PacWest Player of the Year Usama Zaid who leads the league in scoring averaging over 29 points per game. Langara has always been a run and team under Paul Eberhardt, but the Falcons offence has been especially potent of late. Last weekend they posted a 115-74 win over CBC, followed by a 117-98 at Quest. Forward Grant Galbrath was named Pacwest Player of the Week, after averaging 20 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while shooting an efficient 16-22 from the field in the pair of victories.
Camosun College (2-2) @ Quest University (1- 3) 8:00 pm
Coming off their first win of the season on Saturday, the Kermodes will try to keep the momentum going Friday night when they welcome the Camosun Chargers to Quest RecPlex. Camosun is the only team in the league to split their opening four games of the season. Aussie import Shaquille Maharaj, who leads the team in scoring at 14.8 points per contest, and is proving to be one of the best in the league from long distance, connecting on 44 percent of his three-point shots so far this season. Quest got their first win of the season in dramatic fashion last Saturday, a 1 point victory over CBC, paced by Ben Steinbrueck, who led the way with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
