The final game of the day featured the North Delta Huskies taking on the G.P. Vanier Towhees. North Delta cruised to victory, scoring 45 points in the first half to essentially ice the game after 20 minutes.
North Delta started the game off brilliantly, as they went on a 19-4 run early to eventually lead by 19 after the first quarter. The second quarter saw the individual qualities of Suraj Gahir shine through. He had multiple no look passes to set up his teammates, plus a block that sent the crowd into a frenzy. He finished the half with 11 points and four assists.
The second half flew by, with both teams trading baskets and not really going on any extended runs. In fact, North Delta only scored 22 points in the second half — Vanier only 21. Perhaps the highlight of the
half was a big block by Vanier’s Levi Timmermans late.
Suraj Gahir had 18 points, five assists, and four rebounds in limited action — he sat out most of the second half. Riley Meyerhoff was the leading scorer for Vanier with 12.
North Delta will play McMath at 6:45 tomorrow. Vanier plays MEI at noon.
