Nikki Cabuco Commits to UFV

The University of the Fraser Valley has a floor general for the future. Nikki Cabuco — point guard for Charles Best and VK Basketball — will be playing for the Cascades come next season.

“First thing with Nikki is that she is the type of guard that everyone loves to play with” said her future coach, Al Tuchscherer of UFV. “She is selfless, loves to pass, knows how to get her teammates involved, and is just a fun person to play with. We were looking for a guard that has some speed to her game, wants to push the pace in transition and can also shoot the ball. We think Nikki is the perfect fit for our team. We are really excited to have her join our team.”

“Nikki has been a floor general and an outstanding teammate from day one” said her head coach at VK Basketball, Anthony Beyrouti. “The thing that separates her is her ability to get her teammates the ball and take pride in getting them going. On top of that her elite level speed will be a massive asset at the next level both defensively and helping push the ball in transition.”

Cabuco will be joining a Cascades program on the rise with many great players from the BC basketball scene committing to the vision Tuchscherer has.

“I chose to go to UFV because I have been coach by Al [Tuchscherer], and the ability to know the style of play puts me at a competitive and confident level for my first varsity year” she explained. “I have gotten to know, as well as played with some of the girls on the team already, making me feel very welcomed and excited for them to be apart of my basketball family.”
