Jessica Wisotzki commits to SFU

The SFU women’s basketball program will be adding one of the best all-around players in the province come next season. Walnut Grove’s Jessica Wisotzki has committed to Simon Fraser, joining an already strong team that hopes to compete for the GNAC title.

“With Jess Wisotzki, you’ve got arguably one of the biggest signings in the province” said Anthony Beyrouti, head coach of VK Basketball. “For Simon, it was a great fill for a need position. A power forward who can come in with great athleticism and length [. . .] She has phenomenal touch around the rim and has worked on her game to develop her ball handling, and her shooting has really taken her to the next level.”

“I chose to go to SFU because it’s close to home and I used to play with lots of the girls on the team” said Wisotzki on why she chose to attend SFU. “I love the coaching staff, and it is a great academic school. It’s also the only NCAA school in Canada!”
Last season Wisotzki and the Walnut Grove Gators finished second in the province, losing out in the championship game to the Kelowna Owls. With Wisotzki and fellow NCAA bound Tavia Rowell back for their senior season, Walnut Grove is poised to be one of the best teams in the entire province next season.
Wisotzki was also a key member of the VK U17 team that won the national championship at BballNationals in August.
