Grizzlies Attack the Angels to Win First Round of their Provincials

It’s a match made in heaven. Well, not quite. The GW Graham Grizzlies clawed a bit too hard in the first quarter, giving the Little Flower Academy Angels three chances at the foul line.
The Grizzlies started the game off leading by at least four points, but let that slip near the midway point of the first quarter with the Angels tying it up 10-10.
This back-and-forth matchup proved to be an exciting one with both teams defending the ball well at opposite ends of the court. It was Grizzlies Sydney Fraess (#1) who hit a clutch 3 and 2 to keep the scoreboard even with 15-15 at the end of the first quarter.
Grizzlies came out strong in the second quarter, holding a 14-point lead heading into the second half thanks to a near buzzer beater 3 from star forward Deanna Tuchscherer (#14).
Little Flower Academy pushed the pace in transition for the majority of the second half. Ultimately, it wasn't enough and GW Graham claimed their first W of the tournament with a final score of 81-42, with 16 points from the Tuchscherer sisters in the fourth quarter.
Deanna Tuchscherer won POG honours, scoring double-digits for the Grizzlies.

Head Coach Sarah Mouritzen had this to say after the game:
“Last year we came with a pretty similar team and we lost our first game. It was not what we wanted…so our goal this year was to get here and win our first game to give ourselves a chance to go on. We’re pretty happy to have done just that.”
