Charles Hays Rainmakers poured it onto the R.C.Palmer Griffins


The #4 ranked Charles Hay Rainmakers started off on an 8-0 run, but the R.C. Palmer Griffins responded with their own run to end the 1st quarter 16-10 in favor of the Rainmakers. The Rainmakers showcased some of their defense with 4 block shots during the quarter.


The 2nd quarter started with the Griffins scoring 6 unanswered points to make it 18-16. The Rainmakers regained control with a 28-19 lead midway through the 2nd quarter and went into halftime with a 30-19 lead. The quarter saw some solid defense and captivating blocked shots from the Rainmakers and some inside scoring from the Griffins along with some shooting from behind the arc. Pouring it for the Rainmakers was #14 Kai Leighton with 8 rebounds and 16 points at the half, and leading the charge for Griffins was #42 Andrew Reddy with 10 points.


To start the 3rd quarter, the back and forth affair continued between both teams. The Griffins big man #42 showed some versatility on both ends, with some block shots and playmaking on the offensive end. Throughout the entire quarter, the spread was between 9 to 12 points, and the Rainmakers couldn’t extend their lead, and finished the quarter with a 43-32 lead.


The 4th quarter, the Rainmakers took a slight 50-37 lead, but the Griffins wouldn’t go away. At 6:05 in the 4th, the Rainmaker big men #14 Kai Leighton to #13 Liam McChesney, connected on an alley-oop dunk to excite their bench. The Rainmakers controlled the game from then on and finished with a 63-49 win over the Griffins.


Player of the game for the Charles Hay Rainmakers was #13 Liam McChesney with 5 blocks, 14 points, 5 assists, and 12 rebounds. As a collective group the Rainmakers had 14 block shots, and got some solid contribution from Kai Leighton (26pts, 12rbs) and Eric Tubb. For the Griffins, Andrew Reddy had 25pts and 11rbs, while Steven Ang contributed 14pts.
