Britannia Bruins Ruin Vernon Panthers in near blowout game

For the majority of the first half, the Britannia Bruins locked up the scoreboard by holding at least a 10-point lead at any given moment.

After the first quarter alone, the Bruins led by 21-7. The Panthers looked lost on the court, missing too many easy layups and struggling to pass the ball well.

Even at the foul line, the girls could rarely make their baskets. At the half, Britannia dominated the lead 41-18.

The third didn’t see much action on the Bruins’ side of the court as the Panthers held them to just 7 points. Despite their stellar plays on defense, Vernon trailed by nearly 18 heading into the fourth quarter.

Though the Panthers played with heart in the final moments of the game, the Bruins shot them down by a 20-point deficit, with Britannia winning 56-38.

Vernon Panthers’ Kelsey Faulk is a honourable mention from tonight’s game, scoring an enourmous 19 points for her team.

Shemaiah Abatayo took home player of the game honours, scoring 20 points for the Bruins.

She had this to say after the game:

“It’s good because we actually were playing well as a team and moving the ball well. So it feels nice to win that.”
