With only 6km separating the two programs, and fresh off their Island Championship game with Brentwood edging SLS, you knew his game would be heated.

Early in the 1st quarter neither teams scored until the 8 minute mark but couldn’t get away from each other until Brentwood added a little full court pressure. With the score 7-6, Brentwood started to heat up from behind the arc and took a small 16-8 lead to end the quarter. SLS was unable to score for the last 3 minutes of the quarter.

Brentwood opened the 2nd quarter with a dagger 3, to lead 19-8, marking their largest lead thus far. SLS responded with a small 4-0 run, but Brentwood kept on pouring triples. With a 25-12 lead, marking the largest lead of the 1st half. SLS’s #13 Druleo gave the crowd some razzle-dazzle with some creative combination of spin move to an assist for a three point play.

This sparked an incredible run by SLS, from being down 25-15 to leading 35-27 at the half. SLS took the lead by knocking down some 3’s and slowing down the tempo to run a few set plays, which was effective and marked a 7-0 run and 10-2 run to end the quarter.

The 3rd quarter started like the 1st, no scoring from either team for the first 2min, until SLS took their largest lead 37-27. From then on it was back and forth, with Brentwood chipping away at the lead slowly and cut it to 3 points under the 2 minute mark at 40-43. Brentwood’s #14 Somto, who was in foul trouble during the first half, returned to the game and they were able to push too a 47-43 lead. This game was leading up to a wild finish, with Brentwood holding a 50-47 lead going into the 4th quarter.

The last 3 quarters saw both teams make key baskets, grab some crucial O-boards and mix up their defensive strategies. SLS’s zone defense showed some weaknesses, allowing Brentwood to freely move the ball and hit a few 3’s to take a double digit 58-47 lead. More missed defensive assignments by SLS and great execution on the offensive end by Brentwood, and the game was suddenly out of reach, with a commanding 70-50 lead under 2 minutes to go. Brentwood outscored SLS 25-8 in the quarter, on their way to a final score of 75-55.
