Double A Action Lights up the Building
The 2A teams opened up day three as the Pacific Christian Pacers took on the reigning champs, Langley Christian. The 2022 finalists would follow, playing the Holy Cross Crusaders.
Pacific Christian Stuns Langley Christian with Miraculous Comeback
At the apex of Langley Christians’ lead, the Pacers trailed by 13 points. Without a doubt, it seemed that the lightning were well on their way to their second straight finals. That was until the Pacers caught fire, and thus a 22-2 run ensued backed by a 10 point quarter from Kealayna Tupas-Singh.
LCS tried to fight back, but Pacific did just enough to keep them away, winning 48-46.
The Pacers advanced to the finals for the first time in school history, and they did so in an unforgettable way.
Mulgrave Dances into the Finals
The Mulgrave Titans comfortably punched their ticket to the finals in an 85-36 rout of the Holy Cross Crusaders.
Jenna Talib poured in 28 points, and enough from three to send the Titans bench into hysterics.
The Titans will look to avenge their finals loss last season and capture their first 2A Girls Provincial title.
A New 3A Champion to be Crowned Saturday
The Abbotsford Seniors took down the reigning champions R.A. McMath 75-67.
The Panthers continued their playoff dominance by controlling the game and making the most of their opportunities in the paint.
McMath would give the Panthers a scare as Marina Radocaj scored 18 in the fourth and Aaria Johal would hit a three to bring the game to within three points.
The game just wouldn’t go in the Wildcats favour as clutch free throws from Malia Lenz put the game just out of reach.
Blue Jags and Panthers go for Gold
St. Thomas Michaels punched their ticket to the finals in a win against South Kamloops.
The Blue Jags got the best of the Titans in a defensive battle.
Poetically, the top two seeds have advanced to the championship game and possess an intensity and cheer that will be pivotal in their championship clash.
Journey Continues for Gators
Following a third place finish last season, the Gators have played with an edge and intensity that’s willed them into the finals.
Walnut Grove converted on more three point opportunities against Yale, a vast improvement from their riveting matchup against Claremont.
The Gators fans roared with excitement as they dominated the third quarter, deflating the Yale side. With two clutch blocks from Kyanna Knodel the momentum was surely on Walnut Grove’s side.
Kiera Pemberton scored 40-points, looking well on her way to surpassing the all-time provincial points record set by herself in 2022.
Knodel pitched in with 12-points to propel the Gators into the 4A championship game.
Gator Infested Waters
Riverside claimed their spot in the championship game in a big win over Burnaby Central.
In an electric atmosphere Avery Sussex took over the game, spearheading a 14 point swing.
Jade Huynh answered back with a beautiful layup plus the and one, and a side-stepping three-pointer, a staple in her bag.
Huynh’s 6-point swing wouldn’t be of much help as Riverside continued to put up points and lock it down defensively.
The Rapids now deal with a pack of Gators hungry for their first provincial title.
