BC AAA Boys Provincials - Day 2 Previews

Game 1: 3:30pm - South Kam vs Duchess Park

In the first game on the winners side of the bracket, South Kamloops takes on Duchess Park at 3:30 pm. Kamloops squeaked by Carihi in a seven point win, so they will be raring to prove why they’re one of the favourites to win the AAA title. They went 0 for 24 from distance in that game — that likely won’t happen again. Duchess Park scored 52 points in the second half to beat Rick Hansen, and will be hoping that the hot hand of Colburn Pearce remains scorching.

Game 2: 5:15pm – Richmond vs. Pitt Meadows

Richmond pulled off the upset of the AAA tournament so far, beating Argyle 81-80 on a free throw from Murad Mohammed with three seconds left. He had 27 points in total while Daniel Afanasivevskyy had 26 points and 14 rebounds. Meanwhile, Pitt Meadows dominated the glass in their win over Mark Isfeld, and will look to do the same against Richmond. Senior Giovanni Manu had 36 points to go along with 13 rebounds.

Game 3: 6:45pm – McMath vs. NDSS

McMath trailed big in the first quarter and in the fourth — both times they came back to eventually win 97-92. Victor Radocaj had over 20 points and rebounds, and will be a task for the North Delta Secondary defence to handle.

Game 4: 8:15pm – Byrne Creek vs Sir Charles Tupper

In the final game of the day, Byrne Creek takes on Sir Charles Tupper. As the number one seed, the Bulldogs took care of business against Caledonia, cruising to a 77-47 victory with Martin Djunga scoring 21. There starters should be well rested. However, beware of Sir Charles Tupper. They may be small, but they are perhaps the best three point shooting team left in the AAA tournament.
