Abbotsford Seniors Complete a Clean Sweep

The Big Ticket 2022 ended on Sunday in a spectacular event, with dramatic finishes and incredible performances.

First of all, we would like to thank everyone who showed up for the games and tuned in to our live stream last night. Your support is valued and helped make this year's Big Ticket just that much more special.

Abbotsford Senior High School was buzzing with energy and excitement all night as teams battled it out to take home the title. Also, that home court advantage was a factor for the senior Panthers.

Without further ado these are the results for the Big Ticket 2022.

Grade 8 Boys: St. Patrick Celtics

The Big Ticket introduced a grade 8 division this year and it did not disappoint. For the boys side the St. Patrick Celtics beat out South Delta to take home the prize.

Grade 8 Girls: MEI Secondary

The grade 8 girls teams played their hearts out, but MEI Secondary would be victorious beating Argyle to win their bracket.

Junior Girls: Brookswood

Brookswood had the gym buzzing with support, a loud crowd helped fire up the team as they beat Yale 41-33 in the championship game.

Junior Boys: South Burnaby Rebels

The South Burnaby Rebels pulled off an incredible comeback to win their bracket. After trailing most of the game to Heritage Woods, the Rebels rallied back and took a 48-43 win.

Senior Girls: Abbotsford Senior Panthers

The Abbotsford Senior Panthers made a statement beating Walnut Grove to win the title on their home court. In a tight and competitive matchup, the Panthers pulled away with a 2 point lead, winning 60-58.

Senior Boys: Abbotsford Senior Panthers

The Panthers are making the list as champions again. In what was perhaps the most exhilarating matchup of the night, Winston Churchill and Abby Senior went back and forth until the end. The Panthers held a 3 point lead in the dying seconds of the fourth but it wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs drained a tough jumper from deep to force overtime. The Panthers pulled away in the extra quarter as they won 114-108 to capture the senior boys title.

Last but not least, the scholarship ceremony sponsored by the ONNI Group, took place during halftime of the senior boys game. We'd like to say congratulations to the recipients of the award.

Thus ends the 2022 Big Ticket tournament, again we’d like to thank everyone for their support and being a part of such a special event. The weather and long journeys could not stop your support, and everyone involved is grateful.

2022 was one for the books, and we look forward to doing it again next year.
